Turtle Bay gets new director of golf

Matthew Hall has been named the director of golf at the Turtle Bay Resort.

He previously held assistant golf professional positions at the Hapuna Golf Course on the Big Island, at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemond, Ill., and the Yale University Golf Course in New Haven, Ct.

Hall will be responsible for the management and promotion of Turtle Bay's two 18-hole championship courses and oversee the Turtle Bay Championship, a premier stop on the PGA Champions Tour,

State drift championships feature Japan pros

The Hawaii Raceway hosts the All Hawaii Drift Championship Aug. 31.

In addition to the Hawaii drift (stunt driving) competition there will be exhibition contests between Hawaii's best and the professional Team Julius from Yokohama, Japan.

There will also be other demonstrations, a donut contest, go-karts, bikini models, food and drink vendors and a drawing to ride in a Team Julius vehicle.
