FASHION FORMS
NuBra will free you from the tyranny of bra straps.

Find the best dress,
and science will provide
you with the support

I have no patience for the wistful shopper who approaches every beautiful dress or pair of shoes with a resigned sigh and the statement, "I don't know where I would wear this."

Make no excuses. Buy it and the occasion will present itself. Or in my case, the technology. That's right, half the time garments are unwearable is because the right underpinnings can't be found.

There were some excellent sales when the DKNY outlet closed last fall, and that's how I found myself with four backless halters, knowing they required a strapless, backless bra. I could have worn them under a jacket, but they're too pretty to hide, and so they remained in my closet, unworn, tags attached.

But ladies, there is a science god, and now you can have your strap-free support with the double attribute of silicone without the surgery.

I could happily do without the extra half-inch padding, but I'm not complaining as the NuBra has allowed me to wear tank tops, wide necklines and backless clothing without worrying about unsightly straps. Everyday, I can think of more unworn items to pull out of my closet, including sheer whites and mesh clothing.

NuBra's self-adhesive, silicone-filled polyurethane is weird, wild stuff sure to generate more wonder than the Wonder Bra. It's made by Fashion Forms, the company that introduced the water bra a few years back.

NuBra's two molded cups simply stick to, ahem, the twins. A bralike snap pulls them together for as much or as little cleavage as you want. But be careful where you place the cups, lest you look like you're packing a double scoop of ice cream.

The NuBra is perfect for summer's sundresses and skimpy spaghetti-strap and tank tops. When the day's over, peeling it off is fairly painless, though you might want to hit the shower because it leaves a bit of sticky residue. You can wash the bra itself with a soap and warm water.

The bra comes in clear and nude colors in A, B and C cups, and costs $60 at Neiman Marcus. The box reads that the bra is good for more than 100 wearings if cared for properly. Also, try to avoid intimate contact with strangers, lest you scare them to death upon undressing.
