Hurt hiker rescued after straying from trail
Rescue crews airlifted a hiker who had injured herself after straying from a trail off the Pali Lookout yesterday afternoon.
Fire officials said the hiker had been walking alone on an access road to the Pali Lookout when she wandered off the road and fell. She used her cellular phone to call for help at around 3:50 p.m.
Rescue crews located the hiker an hour later and airlifted her out because she complained of back pain and other injuries, fire officials said. She was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in stable condition.

Contest participant allegedly hits producer
A contestant in a bodybuilding contest was arrested after allegedly punching the contest producer, breaking his jaw and eye socket.
Police said a 36-year-old Aiea man was arrested Friday in a second-degree assault case. He was released without charges.
The victim, a 33-year-old Waianae man, reported that he talked to the suspect about dropping weights and intimidating other contestants at the Designer Body Muscle & Physique Championship at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, police said.
The suspect went on to finish his routines on stage before attacking the victim, according to police.

8,092 marijuana plants eradicated on Big Isle
Big Island police destroyed a total of 8,092 marijuana plants during a five-day eradication effort that ended on Saturday.
Police said the plants ranged in size from seedlings to 12 feet and were concentrated in the districts of Hamakua, Puna, North Hilo and South Hilo.
No arrests were made in the eradication effort, but police executed a search warrant at a Mountain View, Puna, residence, where they seized 1,103 additional marijuana plants. No arrests were made as a result of the search warrant, and the investigation is pending.
The effort was a joint operation by Big Island, Honolulu and Maui police departments, the Hawaii National Guard and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Second robbery suspect surrenders in Hilo
A second suspect wanted by police in connection with Thursday's armed robbery in Pahoa turned himself in at the Hilo Police Station yesterday.
Brandon Jason Enos, 21, with no permanent address, was arrested on five warrants charging him with robbery and terroristic threatening. Police described Enos as armed and dangerous.
Enos is suspected of being one of five men who allegedly forced their way into a home on Kaohe Homestead Road near Pahoa town. They demanded drugs and cash from the resident, and fled with valuables and marijuana, police said.
The first suspect, Waimoku Lum Ho, 19, of Hilo, was charged Friday with robbery, burglary, terroristic threatening, firearm violations and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
