Speed, alcohol suspected in 2-car crash that injures 3 men
Excessive speed and alcohol are suspected in a two-car crash on Farrington Highway northwest of Kili Drive that sent three Waianae men to the hospital yesterday morning.
Police said an 18-year-old Waianae man driving a black 2000 Dodge Durango rear-ended a brown 1984 Toyota Tercel heading toward Makaha at 4:24 a.m.
The Tercel veered onto the shoulder of the road, hit a rock and overturned, investigators said. A 32-year-old man and two 26-year-old men, who were passengers, were taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver of the Dodge was arrested on suspicion of negligent injury, police said.

Teen allegedly tries to run over 2 men
A 17-year-old Kalihi boy was arrested for allegedly trying to run over two men with a car in Pacific Heights at around 2 a.m. yesterday.
Police said that three vehicles with 10 to 12 men from Kalihi drove onto Krauss Street, and the men got into an argument with people standing on the street.
The men from the vehicles started throwing beer bottles and yelling, according to police.
When other residents from the area came out, the men drove off, police said.
One vehicle drove straight toward two 21-year-old men who were standing in a driveway. One of the men was slightly injured in the leg, police said.
Police caught up to the vehicle less than half a mile away from the scene. The driver was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the second degree.
Directory billing scam targets isle businesses
CrimeStoppers and the Better Business Bureau want to warn the public of a billing scam targeting Hawaii businesses.
The businesses are sent invoices for advertisements that are to appear in a telephone directory that does not exist. The invoices are sent by Greater Directories Company, of Manila, for advertisements in HAWAII Tel. Directory Section.
Joyce Edwards, president of The Systemcenter Inc. in Kalihi, received an invoice from Greater Directories Wednesday.
"I looked at it and I said, '$850, that doesn't ring a bell,'" Edwards said.
Police said it has received complaints from other businesses who received invoices listing amounts between $1,250 to $2,250. The invoice asks for payments to be mailed to a post office box in Manila.
Systemcenter has advertisements in the local yellow pages directory, Verizon Superpages, and the invoice included a cutout of one of the ads. But Edwards says she pays for the ads monthly with her telephone bill.
When she called one of the Oahu telephone numbers on the invoice, Edwards said she reached the desk of an employee of Bishop Street Capital Management, a subsidiary of First Hawaiian Bank. Gerry Keir, First Hawaiian spokesman, said the bank has no idea who Greater Directories is and has no affiliation with the company.
The other number is not in service.
Anyone who receives an invoice from Greater Directories is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME by cellular telephone.

State cracks down on Kauai park campers
Department of Land and Natural Resources law enforcement officers made two arrests and issued 49 citations after a three-day sweep of Kalalau Valley and the Na Pali Coast State Park on Kauai that ended Friday.
Police arrested a 54-year-old male for violating state park rules, giving false information and resisting arrest.
Criminal citations were also issued to 49 other people for prohibited camping and entering the park without a valid warrant.
One of the men who received a citation was arrested later for an outstanding mainland warrant.
Agents also found and dismantled a structure that had been built against park regulations. The building contained a library with approximately 331 books, magazines and other reading materials.
"This routine sweep was designed to ensure compliance with DLNR camping and access restrictions in this unique wilderness camping area," said Peter Young, DLNR chairman, who added that follow-up sweeps and inspections are planned.
