JOYFUL SOUND: Conscientious rapper Mystic, pictured, is just one of several top-notch performers in the documentary "A Night of Ferocious Joy," showing this weekend at the University of Hawaii-Manoa Art Auditorium. Organized by Refuse & Resist! Hawaii, each showing will be preceded by spoken word, poetry and music by local artists. The film documents highlights of an antiwar concert held in Los Angeles on Mother's Day 2002. Other featured performers include Ozomatli, The Coup, Blackalicious, Dilated Peoples and Saul Williams. Showings are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 general, $3 students and seniors. Call 598-4653 for more info.

Tahiti festival in Laie
The Polynesian Cultural Center's 3rd annual Te Mahana Hiro'a o Tahiti, or Tahiti Cultural Day, continues to celebrate traditions with events today through Saturday.
Workshops in Tahitian dance take place from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. today in the Pacific Theater Main Stage. The fee is $40.
At 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, there will be a solo Tahitian dance competition featuring more than 100 participants in the Hale Aloha Theater.
Finals for the solo dance competition begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Hale Aloha Theater, followed by group competitions and the awards ceremony.
Special event pricing is $8 per adult and $6 for children ages 3 to 11. Children under 3 will be admitted free.
The festival is part of PCC's 40th anniversary celebration. The center is in Laie, at 55-370 Kamehameha Highway. For more information, call 293-3333.
