Stuffs

[Preview]

A preview of movies opening this weekend:

"Bad Boys II" >> Fans of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have had to wait eight years this sequel which promises plenty of slo-mo explosions and buddy bantering as the two Miami narcotic cops track down a violent ring of designer Ecstasy dealers. Smith's character becomes smitten with Lawrence's visiting sister, played by Gabrielle Union. (R)

Mandy Moore: Gives up on love when her parents split up in "How to Deal."

"How to Deal" >> Mandy Moore plays 19-year-old Halley, a high-schooler who gives up on love when her parents (Allison Janney and Peter Gallagher) split and her dad gets a new girlfriend she can't stand. Halley's best friend gets pregnant, and her sister is so dumbstruck with the planning of her marriage that she becomes a nonperson. The movie was adapted by Neena Baber (a writer on the smart animated MTV series "Daria") from two Sarah Dessen young-adult novels. But will Halley find true love with hot newcomer Trent Ford? What do you think? (PG-13)

"Johnny English" >> British comic actor Rowan Atkinson brings another of his popular English TV characters to the big screen. Instead of Mr. Bean, it's Johnny English, transformed from a bumbling credit-card pitchman into a bumbling secret agent. English is called in to stop a French business magnate (John Malkovich) from dethroning the queen and taking over her rule. Coming to his aid are a resourceful sidekick (Ben Miller) and a double agent-love interest in the form of pop star Natalie Imbruglia. (PG)
