List of leaders cut
in half after ninth day
From staff and wire reports
NAGOYA, Japan >> The list of leaders was narrowed from 10 to five today at the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament.
The attrition was natural though, as the eight of the 10 leaders were pitted against each other. Kasuganishiki beat Kaiho in the first showdown, followed by Tokitsuumi over Miyabiyama, Musoyama taking down Tochiazuma and Tosanoumi dropping Kaio.
Struggling grand champion Musashimaru, Hawaii's Fiamalu Penitani, pulled out Friday.
