SCREENING FOR TROUBLE
DENIES ODA / DODA@STARBULLETIN.COM
The Oahu Civil Defense Agency and Project Impact Honolulu announced the completion of a hurricane-protection project at Kahaluu Elementary School yesterday. Principal Amy Arakaki stood under a special screen as it was being installed over a window at the school's cafeteria. This see-through screen protects windows against flying debris. It also provides ventilation, unlike other types of hurricane protection, and can be installed and taken down in minutes. The project was funded by a federal Project Impact grant.
