The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded $512,000 to the state Department of Public Safety for its program that provides compensation to eligible crime victims.
The state's Victim of Crimes Act program provides money to victims of both federal and state crimes.
"I am very pleased that the federal government is providing strong financial support so that we may continue to compensate victims of crimes in Hawaii," said Ed Kubo, U.S. attorney for Hawaii.
