Central Union concert features organ music

A program of classical music and light orchestral compositions adapted for the organ will be presented tomorrow at the Central Union Church "Midsummer Night Concert."

Six church organists and a harpist will be featured at the free 7 p.m. concert at the church at 1660 S. Beretania St. They are Paul Bornand, of Church of the Crossroads; Doug Bomberger, of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church; Cindy Matsuura, of Harris United Methodist Church; John McCreary, of St. Andrew's Cathedral; Nyle Hallman and Keith Thompson, of Central Union Church; and Connie Ue- ijio, of the Honolulu Symphony.

Christian composer speaks about renewal

Marty Haugen, a composer of modern Christian music, will be the keynote speaker at a worship renewal conference next month in Honolulu.

Nuuanu Congregational Church will sponsor the "Led by the Spirit" seminar Aug. 8-10 at the church at 2651 Pali Highway.

Haugen, of Eagan, Minn., is an author, songwriter and recording artist whose works appear in many modern hymnals.

Also speaking will be Joe Camacho, of Malia Puka O Kalani Church in Hilo, who has composed and recorded Hawaiian liturgical music.
