TV show idea has
a beautiful concept

Are you a beauty on the beach who loves the outdoors?

You'll have a chance to prove it if former KHNL news director Seth Feldman gets his reality show, "Beauties on the Beach," on television.

Auditions will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Longhi's Restaurant at Ala Moana Center to find five men and five women for the show.

The concept is simple: Feldman and his Show Doctor Media & Marketing production staff are looking for beautiful people to place amid Hawaii's beautiful scenery doing "beautiful, fun things."

Through the course of the four-week show, the participants will be paired down to a winning man and woman by three yet-to-be named judges and the TV audience, voting via Internet.

The participants will be judged on beauty and beach abilities and not on a specific talent such as singing, dancing or playing an instrument, Feldman said.

"A goal of the show is selling the beauty of Hawaii and the beauty of its people," said Feldman, who is in negotiations with KHNL/KFVE's general manager, John Fink, to air four 30-minute episodes in August.

A preview of the show -- geared to the 18-to-35 age group --- is flashy, colorful, uncomplicated and features lots of talk about sexual attraction and quick, teasing shots of male and female body parts. One woman in a bikini coyly admits that when guys compliment her about her looks, it's usually about "my breasts." The comment is followed by a close-up of said breasts.

The show will profile each of the 10 participants at school, work and home. Audiences will see each person doing "wet and sweat" activities such as running, playing volleyball, swimming, surfing or sailing, Feldman said.

There's also a club segment planned for the sponsor-driven "Hot Spots" portion of the show, as well as a "Best Shopping" section.

The show is hosted by 2003 Miss USA Hawaii Alicia Michioka and Juda Oschner, owner of Da Lion Productions.

The "Beauties on the Beach" crew also will be cruising Oahu beaches this weekend to "ambush" potential "wild card" participants, Feldman said.

The male and female winners will receive management contracts.

There's no age limit or acting experience required, and hopefuls are asked to bring a photo and résumé. Call 926-8076.
