New jobs

>> Hawaii Air Ambulance has named Dr. Mitchel Eric Rosenfeld as medical director. He serves as emergency medicine attending staff at The Queen's Medical Center Emergency Group and assistant clinical professor in the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, surgery department. Rosenfeld also has experience in the aviation industry, serving as a member of Hughes Aircraft Co.'s technical staff and undergoing air traffic control training with the Federal Aviation Administration in Hawaii.

>> Publicity firm Robert Smith & Associates has hired Cherene Farmer of Honolulu as sales manager for its new branch opening in Honolulu. She is responsible for new accounts and has extensive sales and customer service experience.

>> State Farm Insurance has hired Kelly Harada, Wayne Midro and Sheldon Wong as agents. Harada, who was previously a CPA audit manager at Robert H.Y.Leong & Co., will work in the Kakaako business district. Midro, who will work in Pearl City, has been with State Farm since 2001. Wong, who was most recently a sales manager at DFS Galleria, will work in the Waipahu Town Center.

Promotions

>> The Gas Co. has promoted Vincent Loo to operations superintendent for the company's synthetic natural gas plant in Campbell Industrial Park. He will be responsible for planning, scheduling and directing all gas plant operations to ensure a reliable, high quality and cost-effective fuel. He has more than 14 years of experience with the company in various capacities, including engineering, distribution, synthetic natural gas plant maintenance and plant operations. He most recently served as operations engineer at the plant, where he led the upgrade of its control system from pneumatics to a computerized electronic system.

>> Bank of Hawaii has promoted four new vice presidents: Susan E. B. Govoni, retail collection and recovery; Bernhardt A. Alama, cash management services product manager; Susan J. McKenna, cash management product manager; and Lyle R. Tamagawa, metro region business banking manager. Govoni oversees the collection and recovery of all consumer and small business retail loans. Alama and McKenna continue to identify, develop and manage businesses cash flow solutions; while Tamagawa continues to manage a team of small business banking officers.

On the Board

>> James H. McCoy has been named board president of Hawaii Opera Theatre. He is a retired U.S. Navy captain. Board vice presidents are: Kristen Chan, accountant and business evaluator; Suzanne B. Engel, community volunteer; Hugh N. Hazenfield, physician; Evelyn B. Lance, retired family court judge; Laurence B. Lueck, Magnetic Media Information president; Richard C. Palma, retired banker; Jean E. Rolles, Outrigger Hotels & Resorts vice president; and David Takagi, Takagi & Takagi insurance broker. Other officers are: Treasurer Tom Huber, retired attorney; Secretary Lee Alden Johnson, RE/MAX Honolulu Realtor; and Co-Counsels Robert B. Bunn, Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright attorney and Robert S. Katz, Tokildson Katz Fonseca Jaffe Moore & Hetherington attorney. The board also has six new members: Tyrie Lee Jenkins, Flora R. Kawasjee, Nadine Little, Gregory E. Ratte, Julia Cherry and Lawrence D. Rodriguez.

Recognition

>> Alexander & Baldwin Inc. has awarded renewable $2,000 academic scholarships to Morgan Ross of Honolulu and Michelle Sagario of Pukalani, Maui based on scholastic merit, civic awareness and moral character. Ross will attend Vassar College this fall. She hopes to combine her environmental and international interests by looking at ecological land usage in developing countries. Sagario will pursue civil and environmental engineering at Gonzaga University.
