The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Cyanotech soars
Cyanotech Corp. led a parade of three Hawaii stocks with double-digit returns to highlight the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index in a holiday-shortened week.
The Kona nutraceutical company posted an 18 percent gain to close Thursday at 59 cents while Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of Hawaiian Airlines, rose 10.4 percent to 85 cents and Maui Land & Pineapple Co. jumped 10.3 percent to an 18-month high of $24.91.
MLP, which is in the process of selling its interest in two shopping centers and is searching for a new chief executive officer, has been the index's hottest stock over the last two weeks, jumping 31.8 percent.
