'Ulalena anniversary

The nationally acclaimed " 'Ulalena" show, performed live at Maui Theatre, is celebrating its fourth anniversary with $33 kamaaina tickets throughout the month of July.

In addition to regularly scheduled shows at 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, there's a second performance at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Saturday.

With each paid adult ticket, admission is free for kids 10 years and under. Included in the price is a dinner special at your choice of four restaurants: Erik's Seafood & Sushi, Buzz's Wharf, Fish & Game Brewing Co. & Rotisserie, and Gerard's. Buy one dinner entree and get a second of equal or lesser value free.

" 'Ulalena" has been playing for four years to standing ovations every night, according to Gim Lim Jezierny, vice president of Maui Theatre. The production tells the story of the Hawaiian culture, from the Kumulipo, the ancient legend of creation, to the rediscovery of the Hawaiian native culture in the 1970s.

Laughs on Kauai

The Kauai comedy troupe Whole World Theatre will be performing at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Hukilau Lanai in Kapaa.

There is a $10 kamaaina rate for the show. Doors open at 6 p.m. The regular price is $60 for dinner and show, or $35 for the show only.
