The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian rebounds
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., overcoming the resignation of Hawaiian Airlines trustee John Monahan, surged 60.4 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The stock closed yesterday at 77 cents, its highest level since hitting 78 cents on May 16. The shares traded as low as 30 cents as recently as June 12.Maui Land & Pineapple Co. also continued its surge, climbing 19.5 percent to a 14-month high of $22.59. That marked its highest close since reaching $22.75 on April 24, 2002. The stock is now up 42.6 percent for the year.
