Chef Wyss in Swiss bliss
Chef Martin Wyss, the supposedly retired owner of the beloved Swiss Inn, returns to action for the Swiss Inn Festival, Tuesday through July 13 at the Ala Moana Hotel's Plantation Cafe.
Each week of the festival will feature a different menu, but all will highlight Wyss' signature dishes. This week offers a choice of Trout Caprice, Veal Florentine or Croute Emmental, accompanied by Swiss Barley Soup, Swiss Inn Salad and dessert. Cost is $10.50 to $11.50 for lunch and $11.50 to $13 for dinner. (Wyss's Osso Bucco is on the menu starting July 8.)

Kaanapali Hotel's magic
The Kaanapali Beach Hotel will launch a magical dinner show July 1 in the Kanahele Room Theater.
"Kupanaha: Maui Magic for All Ages" features illusions by magicians Jody and Kathleen Baran and their daughters and the Kano'eau Dance Academy presenting legends of Hawaiian demigods in hula and chant.
The magic and music are accompanied by a three-course meal: Pig in a Pareo or Roasted Vegetable Bruschetta as the appetizer, followed by entree choices including Island Fresh Snapper, Roasted Stuffed Chicken Breast and Steak & Shrimp. Desserts include the Kaanapali Pineapple Cheesecake. Kamaaina rate is $49 ($39 teens, $29 children).
Show nights are Tuesdays through Saturdays, with check-in at 4:30 p.m. Call 800-262-8450.
Ilikai hosts wine tasting
The Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki offers a wine tasting and art viewing, "Seascapes & Sunset," 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Canoes, with artist Al Hogue. Cost is $10. Call 949-3811.
