Promotions buzzing
at Aloha Airlines’
executive offices
Three new top positions have been filled at Aloha Airlines, which expects to see a shift in its revenue stream this year.
"With the continued expansion, transpacific revenue will succeed interisland revenue for the first time this year," said spokesman Stu Glauberman.
Thirty-one-year airline veteran Stephanie Ackerman has been upped to senior vice president of marketing and external affairs -- a much loftier height than her first days with the airline as a flight attendant.
Ackerman will now direct Aloha's advertising, marketing, Aloha Pass and customer relations programs. She will continue to oversee corporate communications, industry and government affairs, and community relations.
Annette Murphy is newly tapped as the senior vice president for passenger sales and service.
"She will oversee all aspects of the business that touch the consumer directly from the moment they book, including sales, travel agent sales, check-in, airport services, in-flight service and catering and baggage check-in and delivery," Glauberman said.
Murphy has been with Aloha for a year but has a 30-year career in which she has opened new service and reservation centers for other airlines in some of the markets Aloha is in and is going into, he said.
The new hire is Randy Laser, vice president for pricing and revenue management. He joins the privately held Aloha with 12 years' experience, most recently from Florida-based Spirit Airlines.
Laser had no involvement in recent fare increases, but his goal will be "making sure the yield increases and that each seat is taken up," Glauberman said.
Aloha's transpacific passengers won't see cutbacks in food service as witnessed elsewhere in the air.
Starting today, chef and restaurateur Alan Wong's Hawaii Regional Cuisine will be served in coach as well as first-class on transpacific flights. Murphy and Wong developed new fare for the coach fare set.
Shari Chang, former senior vice president of sales and marketing, continues to serve the airline as an e-commerce consultant as part of her business, SWC Marketing.
