Hansen, Sagawa
represent Hawaii

Eric Hansen of Aiea was the first Hawaii resident to finish the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego yesterday, running the 26.2 miles in 3 hours, 33 minutes and 54 seconds.

Hansen, 44, was the 1,018th finisher after sprinting out to a 1:38:09 split halfway through. Hansen improved on his time in last year's Honolulu Marathon, when he finished in 3:50:46.

Hawaii Pacific runner Masako Sagawa finished in 3:45:11 to become the fastest Hawaii woman in the event. She ran Honolulu in 3:32:48.

The top of the leaderboard had a few local names as well.

Irina Bocacheva of Kyrgyzstan won the women's race in 2:29:52 after taking fifth in Honolulu and Ondoro Osoro, who finished third in Honolulu last year, won the overall title in 2:09:38.

Football officials wanted for OIA

The Oahu Interscholastic Association of Football Officials (OIAFO) will be starting their training for new and experienced football officials in early July. The OIAFO works all of the OIA varsity and junior varsity games.

The season runs from August through October. In addition to officiating the OIA games, the OIAFO also works with youth programs and is represented in the HHSAA championship tournament that takes place in November.

There is no fee for the training so all that is required is time and a love for the game. Contact Matt Sumstine prior to July 10, 2003 for registration information at 927-8665.
