UH science programs
get funding boost


A three-year, $214,000 partnership to assist students pursuing engineering and science degrees will be announced tomorrow by Siemens Building Technologies Inc., the Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies and University of Hawaii College of Engineering.

A Europe-based mechanical and electrical control systems company, Siemens recognizes Hawaii is an important crossroads, said the Center for Hawaiian Studies.

The funds will include $55,000 for 15 to 20 scholarships per year, $15,000 to sponsor student engineering projects and competitions and $6,000 for students to attend conferences and seminars.

Additionally, $24,800 will be provided for faculty and students to tour Siemens.
