>> Ken Takeuchi has been named Leahi Hospital clinical operations director. He will oversee admissions, adult day health, dietary, laboratory, pharmacy, rehab (occupational therapy and physical therapy), social services and x-ray. He was previously St. Francis Medical Center's medical social services manager.
>> Kahala Nui has named Terry Peacock marketing director. She will supervise the retirement community's marketing and reservations, and manage the senior living counselors and Kaimuki office. She has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. Previously, she was Elyte Pacific ATM Services business development director.
>> Benson Choo has joined Finance Factors' information security department as information protection manager. He will oversee the company's enterprise security risks and developing strategies to ensure the most up-to-date information security. He previously served as information systems auditor for several local banks.
>> Frank Cho has joined Communications Pacific as an account supervisor. He was previously a business reporter for The Honolulu Advertiser.
Promotions
>> Leslie Taki has been named president of shipping consultancy SmartFreight, replacing Frank Fujimura. Taki had served as vice president since 1999.
>> Fitzgerald Aguilar has been appointed as Marriott International, Pacific Islands Resorts and Vacation clubs area director of operations. He replaces Bill Countryman, who was promoted to Maui Marriott Resort and Ocean Club general manager. In his new position, he will be responsible for all operational support and oversight of 13 hotel resorts and vacation clubs in Hawaii and Guam. He has been with Marriott since 1989, most recently as JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa operations director in Thailand.
>> Wayne J. Iseri has been promoted to Sand Island branch manager at First Hawaiian Bank. He joined the bank in 1988 as an assistant service supervisor. Also at the bank, John Daniel has been named dealer center division consumer loan officer and Sandra T. Gomes has been promoted to main banking center personal banking officer. Daniel joined the company in 1992 as a clerk and Gomes joined in 1994 as an account service representative.
>> Island Insurance Cos. promoted Joyce Fujimori to commercial insurance division assistant underwriting manager. She will assist in planning, directing and coordinating the complete underwriting process, including the selection, pricing and sales of commercial risk policies. She was previously a senior underwriting specialist in the same division and has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry.
>> Jontue Koff has been promoted to assistant project manager at Firefly. Previously a project coordinator, she will continue to work on various accounts including Alexander & Baldwin, First Hawaiian Bank, The Contemporary Museum and the Small Business Administration. Her new responsibilities will be to manage and develop Web sites along with exploring new business opportunities for her clients. Koff has been with Firefly since 2002. Firefly is an interactive marketing firm affiliated with Milici Valenti Ng Pack.

>> Steve Williams will be installed as chairman of the Maui Chamber of Commerce Wednesday at The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Resort in Wailea. Williams is senior vice president and regional manager of First Hawaiian Bank. Also at the banquet, the T.S. >> Cancer Research Center of Hawaii Senior Researcher Alan Lau will serve for three years as a member of the National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review Cell Development and Function Study Section 3. Members are selected based on the quality of their research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other achievements.
>> The Hawaii Business Education Association has named Michael Fujita of Leeward Community College as board president. Other officers are: Evelyn Sugihara, Windward Community College Employment Training Center, president-elect; Normadeene "Deenie" Musick, Halau Ku Mana, vice president; Jan Ikeda, Radford High School, secretary; and Della Kunimune, Leeward Community College, treasurer. The nonprofit organization's purpose is to promote business education through Hawaii. It is an affiliate of the National Business Education Association.
>> Hawaii Dental Service has reelected Jay T. Kanegawa of Aiea Family Dental Group as chairman of the board for 2003-04. Other officers include: First Vice Chair Gabriel S. H. Lee, American Savings Bank commercial markets senior vice president; Second Vice Chair Randall S. Cislo; Secretary Thomas K. Sing, Graphic Communications International Union Local 501M business manager; Assistant Secretary Michael Y. Ishikawa, Egami & Ichikawa CPAs Inc. managing principal; Treasurer Kelvin N. Asahina; and Assistant Treasurer Gregory Dwight Dunn, Hawaii Nature Center executive director.
Recognition
>> Maryknoll High School teacher Lance Suzuki has been named Economics Teacher of the Year by the Hawaii Council on Economic Education. His application focused on a three-week simulation of the formulation of U.S. fiscal policy. Suzuki has been with Maryknoll since 2000.
>> Mothers Against Drunk Driving-Hawaii founder Carol H. McNamee has received the Young Women's Christian Association Leader Luncheon 2003 Individual Achievement Award for her volunteer community service. MADD-Hawaii was founded in Hawaii 19 years ago to stop drunk driving, support victims of drunk driving and prevent underage drinking.
>> Tom Sakai has been designated a Premier Advisor Program member by Wachovia Securities. Qualifications include client service and revenue generation.
