The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Bankoh hits high

Bank of Hawaii Corp. surged to an all-time high this week as it rose 2.8 percent to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The stock, which closed yesterday at $34.92, is up 14.9 percent for the year.

Barnwell Industries Inc. also kept climbing as it hit another 10-year high with a 2.1 percent gain to $24.50.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc., pulling within a dollar of its 52-week high, rose 6.5 percent to $27.18. The parent of Matson Navigation Co. closed yesterday at $27.18, near its one-year high of $28.18 reached on May 30, 2002.
