Hawaii sailors aim
for 3 national titles
The Hawaii sailing team has qualified for all three events of the ICSA North American Championships in Detroit. The sailing races begin June 2 with the women's championship with the team racing running June 5-7. The Coed Dinghy championship completes the nine day event.
Only five schools have qualified teams for all three events.
The fourth-ranked women's team has won five regattas this year including the PCIYRA championships that earned them a spot in the national championship.
The Rainbow Wahine won a national championship in 2001 and finished second last year in the event they hosted.
The coed team, also ranked No. 4, won at the PCIYRA Dinghy Championships for its berth to the national championship.
Arena tickets available for local firefighters
Star Markets is sponsoring 500 tickets for local firefighters to cheer on the Hawaiian Islanders when they play the Louisville Fire on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Blaisdell Arena.
Firefighters can call the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association at 949-1566 to receive complimentary tickets. If fire- fighters wish to purchase tickets after the complimentary tickets are distributed, a $2 discounted price is available at the Blaisdell box office when presenting their HFD ID.
High school football players will be admitted to the game free when they wear their team jersey.
The first 3,000 fans through the door will receive a free game program and a Pizza Hut thunder stick.
Volleyball Shootout slated for Saturday
The Employment Specialists Beach Volleyball Shootout featuring men's and women's open doubles will be held Saturday at the Queen's Beach Sand Box.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. with the matches starting at 9 a.m.
The $10 per year membership in AVPNext is required. The players fee is $20 per team in advance or $30 per team on Saturday.

Blaisdell to host bodybuilding event
The 25th annual Hawaiian Islands Bodybuilding Championship will be held June 28 at the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall. Competition starts at 6:30 p.m.
The event is a national qualifier and is held in conjunction with the Junior Hawaiian Islands Championship, the Over 35 Master's Championship and the Women's Hawaii Fitness and Figure contests.
Guest posers include Jay Cutler, Lenda Murray, Lisa Uzzle and Clifton Torres.
Tickets range from $21 to $41 and are on sale at Mits' Basic Foods, 24 Hour Fitness at Kapiolani and Mililani, Ticket Outlets and the Blaisdell box office.
