Sony Open aids in
raising money for Hawaii

The Sony Open in Hawaii PGA Tour golf tournament has helped Friends of Hawaii Charities, Inc. raise $800,000.

The proceeds will go to programs that support Hawaii's children, women and needy.

The majority of the funding was raised through the Sony Open, which is one of Hawaii's largest fund-raising events.

Since the first Sony Open in Hawaii in 1999, the Friends and its charity partner -- the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc. -- have raised more than $3 million.
