2 Angels take a dive
with SEA Hawaii

NOT only have the luscious Cameron Diaz and sassy Drew Barrymore set out to see Hawaii during their isle stays, they both chose to SEA Hawaii. That's the Oahu Scuba Diving Co. owned by Kenneth K. Martinez Burgmaier and Lyle Kleusch, and Kleusch was the lucky one to take the actresses down under on a private scuba dive. And while Drew is a beginner diver, Cameron is experienced -- why am I not surprised? -- and was excellent, according to Kleusch. He says the two had a blast, Hawaiian style ... And speaking of Burgmaier, he got Keola Beamer mentioned on the cover of the May issue of Jazziz magazine. Inside was an article on Burgmaier's award-winning film, "Ki Ho Alu-Keola Beamer" and mentioned the filmmaker's "Stanley Clarke, a Celebration of Black Music and Film" TV special featuring Stewart Copeland from the Police and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers plus Stevie Wonder. Burgmaier directed the special, which aired in 70 million homes ...

IF you like love songs, and under the right circumstances, who doesn't (?) you'll love Na Leo's latest CD, "Love Is." Nalani Choy, Lehua Heine and Angela Morales have come many miles since the day in 1984 when they first gained attention while students at Kamehameha Schools with "Local Boys." The three young women have released a dozen CDs since then ...

Disco? Duck!

IT couldn't possibly be making a comeback, could it? I mean disco. Promoter Yemun Chung is betting it is. He notes there's already been a resurgence of disco in N.Y. and L.A., citing Dick Clark's "Disco Ball" on ABC. Many of us remember visiting and dancing at such disco fever spots as the Point After, Infinity, J.B.'s, C'est Si Bon, the Hawaiian Hut and the Tiki. The craze was huge from about 1972 to 1983, and "Saturday Night Fever" put disco on the map with the Bee Gees and Hawaii's own Yvonne Elliman singing "If I Can't Have You." Now Chung is presenting "Friday Night Fever" on May 30 at the Sheraton Waikiki. Elliman is returning, along with such groups as Infusion, Eight O Eight, Tino & the Rhythm Klub and a number of seven-piece bands discoing away ...

ON the same day that I received two suggestions for planning ahead for long term health care, should it ever become necessary, comes the Hawaii Psychological Association with 10 tips for mental well being. No. 1 on the list is, "Focus on the Present. Concentrate on immediate needs. Don't dwell on the past or ruminate about future problems that you can't control." Take your pick ...

No sibling rivalry here

THERE'LL be Kosakas a pair when "Hawaii Cooks With Roy Yamaguchi" on PBS Hawaii June 4. The show's creator, Melanie Kosaka, will be exec producer, and on the other side of the camera will be her younger brother, exec chef Lance Kosaka with owner Alan Wong of Alan Wong's Restaurant. They'll be in the limelight, dishing out special recipes and talking about their careers and the future of Hawaii's culinary industry ...
