Corrections and clarifications

>> Healthmark Partners Inc. asked for $50,000 in seed money to look at whether to establish a hospital in West Maui. A story on Page A17 Sunday incorrectly named Triad as the company making the request.

>> State law permits lobbyists to urge the support or defeat of specific legislation. A Page A4 story last Thursday incorrectly quoted G.A. "Red" Morris as saying state law does not allow lobbyists to charge for lobbying specific legislation.

Motorcycle ramming leads to man's arrest

A 29-year-old Salt Lake man was arrested yesterday for allegedly ramming a motorcycle from behind in an effort to force it off Moanalua Freeway near Tripler Medical Center Monday night.

Police said a 31-year-old man reported that a sedan struck his motorcycle about 10:45 p.m. The impact sent the motorcycle into a concrete median but the motorcyclist and his passenger, a 29-year-old woman, managed to stay on the motorcycle and were not injured.

The motorcyclist said he chased the sedan and tried to stop it but the driver responded by swerving into the motorcycle twice. Police said the motorcyclist followed the sedan to the Salt Lake area, where the two men argued. Police later tracked down the owner of the sedan through vehicle registrations and discovered that the owner had loaned the car to a friend.

The friend was arrested for investigation of attempted first-degree murder.
