Home Depot will
add Kapolei store

Home Depot will build a 135,000-square-foot store at Kapolei, on a 12-acre site being acquired from the Estate of James Campbell.

Site work will start before the end of this month and the store should be completed by the end of the year, said Brad Myers, senior vice president of Kapolei Property Development LLC, a Campbell affiliate.

Atlanta-based Home Depot did not respond to requests for comment. Kapolei Property Development said the store will be at 4600 Kapolei Parkway, where that street intersects with Kalaeloa Boulevard.

Kapolei Property said $1 billion in public and private funds has been invested at Kapolei, $475 million in 2002 alone.

Home Depot opened its first Hawaii store, of 145,000 square feet, in Iwilei in September 1999. It has since opened stores in Pearl City, Kahului and Kona and is building one on Kauai.
