TOKYO >> Yokozuna Asashoryu is alone in first place at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament after beating Takanonami today to improve to 5-0.
Seven wrestlers are tied with 4-1 records, including Chiyotaikai, who beat Tosanoumi by oshitaoshi (frontal push down).
Ozeki Dejima lost his first match, falling to Tamanoshima (3-2) by hatakikomi (slap down).
Buyuzan, Aminishiki, Jumonji, Tochinonada and Wakanosato all won to improve to 4-1 in the 15-day basho.
Yokozuna Musashimaru, or Hawaii's Fiamalu Penitani, has yet to recover from surgery on his left wrist and is absent for the fourth straight meet.
Asashoryu, who is from Mongolia, is seeking to win his third consecutive tournament.
