Kapiolani Park was the place yesterday to experience Filipino food and cultural events during the Filipino Fiesta. Above, members of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce performed the Ati-Atihan dance yesterday. The dance, which dates back to the 13th century, is performed during a seven-day festival in the province of Aklan in the central Philippines.

Waikele Elementary School students from kindergarten to second-grade took a field trip to Ala Moana Park Friday, reef walking to spot sea creatures through their viewing boxes. Among the children were 6-year-old Kyle Toma, left; Chelsey Sellona, 6; Kelvin Anderson, 6; and Bryant Tarrant, 7.




BLESSED DAY OF DAMIEN

Yesterday was the feast day of Blessed Damien in the Catholic calendar. Siale Vune looked over the shoulder of the Father Damien DeVeuster statue in front of the Capitol after he helped drape the leis.
