New jobs

>> The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort has hired Yvette Santiago as director of human resources, Donna Lynn Nakai as director of event planning and Iris Shimokawa as associate event manager, Asia Pacific. Santiago has been with Marriott for 17 years, most recently as area director of marketing for Marriott International's Senior Living Services division. Nakai oversees a six-person event planning staff. She most recently served as convention services manager at the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau. Shimokawa most recently served as an administrative assistant in Asian sales at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.

>> Nick Jonow has joined the Pacific Basin Economic Council as manager of information technology and communications. He manages the international secretariat's Web site, network and servers.

>> Yvonne Lau Kanoholani and Erin Yamada have been named senior account executives at KITV 4. Kanoholani was previously local sales manager at New Wave Communications. Yamada was an account executive at Verizon Directories.

Promotions

>> Hilo Hattie has promoted Felix Calvo to Hawaii region area manager, Brent Potter has become director of new business, Shelly Easton is the new Nimitz flagship store general manager, and Kit Sakurai has moved up to Ala Moana store manager. Calvo will oversee seven Hawaii stores, not including Nimitz. Potter will supervise the company's e-commerce, wholesale and uniform and custom prints divisions. Easton was most recently the Ala Moana store general manager. Sakurai was hired last year as Nimitz store assistant manager after 14 years at Crazy Shirts.

>> Kahala Nui has promoted Stella Luecke from marketing assistant to resident services manager. She will help residents coordinate the details of their apartments and handle depositor retention and sales.

On the board

>> The Hawaii Medical Service Association has elected new board member Allan R. Landon in the community at large category. He is Bank of Hawaii Corp.'s vice chairman and chief financial officer.

>> Ann Hisamoto of Cades Schutte LLP has been named president of the Association of Legal Administrators Hawaii Chapter for 2003-04. Other officers are: Wayne Yoshimura, Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, vice-president; Linda Hammel, Oshima Chun Fong & Chung, secretary; Lori Isaki, Reinwald O'Conner & Playdon, treasurer; and Blane Fujiwara, Char Sakamoto Ishii Lum & Ching, immediate past-president.
