Daniel Akui, 78, of Anahola, Kauai, formerly of Kaneohe, a retired Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard maintenance supervisor, died May 2 in Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He is survived by wife Mary Lani A., son Irwin "Kalani," brother Moses, sisters Miriam "Toots" Peterson and Grace Shiroma, and eight grandchildren. Evelyn L. Anderson, 69, of Waianae, a supermarket manager, died Thursday in the Queen's Medical Center. She was born in Illinois. She is survived by sons Charles, Nick, David, Jerry, Steven and Johnny; daughters Pamela Barnes, Susan Snodgrass, Darlene Daley and Marjorie Anderson; brothers Jack, Robert and David Schomer; sisters Bonnie Barnes, Judy St. Clare, Joyce Temple and Cindy Dunn; 34 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Pauline Susan Becker, 53, of Honolulu, died May 2. She was born in Minnesota. She is survived by parents Clement and Imelda; brothers Jim, Mark, Marlin and Randy; and sister Lynette Lenz. James Francis Cummings, 69, of Kailua-Kona, a retired chief engineer of maritime services and U.S. Navy veteran, died Tuesday in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Masonville, Iowa. He is survived by sons Ryan, Gavin, Griffin and Mitchell; daughters Barrett and Darby; brother Clair; sisters Kevin Cummings and Joyce Carpenter; and one grandchild. Lorenzo "Larry" De Guzman Eclarin, 63, of Pearl City, a retired Pepsi Bottling Co. heavy equipment mechanic, died April 24 at home. He was born in Sanchez Mirra, Cagayan, the Philippines. He is survived by wife Brigida Redencion "Ching"; daughters Maria Lorena T. Eclarin and Flordeliza Kealanahele III; brother Teodoro; sisters Amelia Eclarin and Luisa E. Ricardo Rivera Estoesta, 96, of Wahiawa, a retired U.S. Army master sergeant, died Tuesday in Tripler Army Medical Center. He was born in Agoo, La Union, the Philippines.
