Remember Mom


Seven days from now it will be Mother's Day. And sure, Mom is saying you shouldn't make a fuss, but here's the thing: Don't believe her. You, your dad, your siblings or whoever the responsible party is in your extended family had better get cracking. Restaurants book up fast.

All these specials are for Mother's Day only, unless otherwise noted:

Auntie Pasto's: Specials Friday through next Sunday include Balsamic-Glazed Lamb Chops ($18.95) and Jumbo Scallops and Shrimp with Risotto ($21.95). Complimentary pumpkin tiramisu for moms on Mother's Day only. Call 523-8855 (Beretania) or 739-CIAO (Kapahulu).

Brew Moon: Three-course brunch includes salad of Tomato-Bermuda Onion or Gorgonzola, Walnut and Romaine; entree of Eggs Benedict "Local Style," Eggs Sardou, Black Hole Lager Roasted Pork Loin, Kalbi-Marinated Top Sirloin or BBQ Grilled Salmon; dessert of Strawberry Crepes or Warm Bread Pudding. Dixie Grill: Jazz brunch menu includes Eggs Sardou ($8.50), Smoke House Scramble ($6.50), New York Steak and Eggs ($9.75), Blueberry French Toast ($7.25). Complimentary glass of champagne included. Ihilani Resort and Spa: Ocean Ballroom champagne brunch buffet includes chilled seafood station, omelets, Pulehu Island Chicken, Jerk-Spiced Pork Loin, Kiawe-Grilled Baby Back Ribs, leg of lamb. Cost is $39.50, $44.50 with champagne, $19.75 children. Call 679-0079.

Kuhio Beach Grill: Brunch buffet includes snow crab legs, ham, prime rib, dim sum, waffle and omelet stations. Cost is $30. Call 921-5171.

L'Uraku: Four-course lunch includes Steamed Shrimp Mousse, Ahi Nicoise Salad and entree choice of Crab-Stuffed Mahimahi ($26), Soy Steamed Veal Cheeks ($25) or Grilled Marinated Salmon ($24), plus Hawaiian Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta for dessert. Four-course dinner includes Poached Moi & Manila Clams and entree choice of Pan Roasted Salmon ($43), Shrimp & Scallop ($45), Petite Filet Mignon ($44), plus dessert. Call 955-0552.

Michel's: Three-course brunch begins with several soup or salad choices, followed by entree choices including of Belgian Waffle ($24), Michel's House-Smoked Salmon ($28), Eggs Benedict with Crab ($32), Main Lobster Salad ($36). Roy's Hawaii Kai: Three-course brunch includes dim-sum appetizer plate plus salad or granola/fruit bowl, followed by entree choices that include Hawaiian Sweet Bread French Toast ($16), Crab Cake Benedict ($25), Beef Enchilada Omelette ($20), Kiawe-Grilled Loco Moco ($16), Honey-Mustard-Crusted Grilled Corned Beef ($18), Porcini-Dusted Papio ($25). Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar: Dinner buffet Saturday; brunch and dinner buffets on Mother's Day. Menu includes sushi, sashimi and omelets; sauté station with prawns, osso buco, seared hamachi, prawns and scallops; cold seafoods and salads. Cost is $38, $19.50 children.

Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel: Banyan Veranda Mother and Daughter Afternoon Tea, Saturday, with entertainment by George Street and a Princess Kaiulani Fashions fashion show ($28.50). Sergio's: Three-course dinner includes appetizer of Roasted Corn and Yukon Potato Soup or Mesclun Greens Salad. Entree choices: Sautéed Chicken Breast with Prosciutto ($24.50), Honey-Thyme-Glazed Salmon ($29.50), filet mignon ($34.50) or Pasta Primavera ($16.95). Dessert is strawberry shortcake.
