Kidman film needs
Hawaiian or Samoan man

Kim Mederios, owner of CIA Model Management, has been asked to find a good-looking Hawaiian or Samoan man for a nonspeaking principal role in the remake of "Stepford Wives," starring Nicole Kidman. Because Nicole is so tall, the man has to be 6-foot-1. What an opportunity for a local hunk. Those interested should call Kim at 259-7914 ...

SURFING ON: The story last month about a marlin ramming its bill into the shoulder of Mark Ferrari brought back scary memories to Kim. In 1976, she was surfing at Pops off the Sheraton-Waikiki when a stick fish rammed its stick right through her foam and Fiberglas board, just missing her throat. After impaling the board, the fish was flopping around and with one powerful thrust, its stick snapped and the 2-foot long fish flopped out of the water onto her board under her chin. She has never gone surfing again. She finds representing surfers and models much more to her liking. Two of her models, Jocelyn Luko and Sarah Evans, were filmed by KHON with her friend, famed hair stylist Frederic Fekkai, at Neiman Marcus Thursday. Frederic, in from New York, gave the women a spring look. He is continuing seminars at Neiman today. Call 948-7390 for reservations. Last year, he came out with men's products. "Men don't want to fuss," he said yesterday. "The products are easy to apply, rinse and they control hair quickly" ...

THE Down Boys --Paul Sato, Rene Berthiaume, Douglas Toews and John W. White -- and their bluegrass music were a hit at David Callies' 60th birthday party last Saturday at La Pietra, tossed by his wife, Laurie, a '70 grad and trustee of the school. Family members, close friends and David's UH law school colleagues attended. Some of the diehards carried on into the late hours, dancing at Don Ho's Island Grill ...
