The Honolulu Board of Water Supply recently awarded six construction contracts worth more than $9.6 million, according to Chief Engineer Clifford Jamile.
"These projects will provide more dependable service to our customers," Jamile said Tuesday. "We will upgrade existing systems and repair and repaint a reservoir."
The contracts were awarded through competitive bids, said Denise De Costa, the Board of Water Supply spokeswoman.
A $3,520,266 contract was awarded to Mega Construction Inc. to install waterlines and related equipment in the Punchbowl area; along Prospect Street from Alapai to Auwaiolimu streets; along Spencer Street from Alapai Street to Wilder Avenue; along Emerson Street from Green to Prospect streets; along Ward Avenue from Lunalilo to Prospect streets; and along Magazine Street from Thurston Avenue to Prospect Street. Completion is expected by early August 2004.
Preferred Constructors Inc. got a $3,050,902 contract to install waterlines and related equipment along Wilhelmina Rise from Waialae Avenue to Anuhea Street; along 13th Avenue from Waialae Avenue to Wilhelmina Rise; along 14th and 15th avenues from Waialae Avenue to Keanu Street; along Keanu Street from Wilhelmina Rise to 13th Avenue; portions of Claudine Street; along 16th Avenue from Koko Drive to Claudine Street; and the entire lengths of Anuhea Street and Pelu and Pukalani places. Completion is expected by mid-February.
In Manoa, RMY Construction Inc. will install new waterlines and related equipment along Pawaina Street from Manoa Road to Pakanu Street; along Pakanu Street from Pawaina Street to East Manoa Road; from 3357 Pinao St. to 3342 Pinao St.; and along Akaka Place from the beginning to 3495 Akaka Place under a $1,434,355 contract. Completion is expected in March.
Preferred Constructors Inc. will install waterlines and related equipment in Nanakuli along the entire lengths of Laiku Street and Princess Kahanu Avenue, and along Waiolu Street from Laiku Street to Waiolu Place under a $1,052,907 contract. Completion is expected by the end of January.
Integrated Construction Inc. was awarded a $297,700 contract to install waterlines and related equipment along two private city-maintained roads off Waianae Valley Road between Plantation Road and Piliuka Place. Completion is expected by the end of this year.
In Hawaii Kai, Hawaii Waters Technology Ltd. got a $254,800 contract to repair and repaint the Mariner's Ridge Reservoir off Kaumoku Place. Completion is expected by early August.
