Slim's Power Tools held its 10th Annual He-Man Competition yesterday at its Kalihi store. Contestants used hand tools to compete in four events. Bert Takita, above, participated in the "Drill da Bit" portion of the competition. The grand-prize winner was Gilbert Gambalan, of Ewa Beach, who completed the events in 1 minute, 33.19 seconds. Gambalan received a $1,000 Slim's Power Tools shopping spree and a trip for two to Las Vegas.



MAKAKILO ELEMENTARY GETS NEW COMPUTERS

Makakilo Elementary School recently received $10,000 worth of computer equipment from the Estate of James Campbell. Attending a presentation of 11 new computers were fifth-graders Rhiannon Reed, left, Matthew Moses and April Abutin; Campbell Estate CEO Steve McMillan; Principal Gary Chun; and fifth-grader Michael Medeiros.
