A MAGIC MOMENT: Harold Chang, left, added the "frog noises" as Martin Denny played "Quiet Village" and Kit Ebersbach watched approvingly during the Tiki Lounge Five-0 party at La Mariana Sailing Club on Saturday. The restaurant was jammed solid for Denny's set -- he closed with a "Porgy & Bess" medley -- and he was well worth the wait. Fil Slash of 97.5 KPOI dressed for the night in a vintage Mr. Kailua aloha-print jumpsuit.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VANA!: Proud "parents" Michael Iovino and Lani Jennings threw a party at Iovino's Haiku Plantations home on Friday to celebrate the second birthday of their dog, Vana. The two friends have a "joint custody" arrangement: Vana spends part of the week with Iovino and part with Jenning and her family nearby.

BUT ARE THEY 20 FEET AWAY?: Jeremy Pippin, left, and Danel Victoria Verdugo stepped away from Kennedy Theatre to talk with well-wishers Taurie Kinoshita and R. Kevin Doyle after the opening night performance of "The Robbers" on Friday (Kinoshita couldn't attend the cast party because she was, gasp, smoking). Pippin and Verdugo give two of the best performances in the ambitious but opaque UH-Manoa production.
