Free Imaginarium shows, aerospace exhibits, sunspot viewing and mini-rocket launches will be among activities featured at a Space Day and HealthFest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Windward Community College in Kaneohe.
"Our entire Center for Aerospace Education will be open to celebrate National Space Day," said Krissie Kellogg, coordinator.
"We wanted the community to know about all the opportunities here."
Stargazing shows will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Imaginarium, the college's high-tech, multi-media planetarium that projects digital images onto a 40-foot dome.
"The Search for Life in the Universe" narrated by Leonard Nimoy will be presented at noon and 2 p.m.
Kellogg said seating is limited to 66 spaces per show.
The NASA Flight Training Lab with its flight simulator, the Aerospace Exploration Lab, Paliku Theatre, Gallery 'Iolani and the lo'i (taro patch) will be open for tours.
Displays will include a campus-wide model of the solar system, "listening" to Jupiter and Polynesian voyaging program exhibits.
Representatives of the American Cancer Society, Health Care Solutions, Community Care Services, Arthritis Foundation and 24-Hour Fitness will provide information and answer questions.
Kelly Ryan, coordinator, said, "We felt it was important for a community to know the options they have when it comes to taking care of themselves."
