Bands and Bud
liven things up
at Puck’s Alley
WHILE THE number of bars participating in the "Bud Block Party" has dropped this time around, it shouldn't stop Duane Oyama and the gang from Mass Appeal Productions from throwing another bangin' party this weekend at Puck's Alley.
It all kicks off at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Anna Bannana's, Bedroq Bar and Grill and Eastside Grill. A $10 wristband, available at all three establishments, allows access to the bars and a trolley that will be running in the area.
Among the bands scheduled to perform: Full Circle, Go Jimmy Go, the Hellbound Hounds, Joe Rockstar, One Drop, Dan-O, Ten Feet, the No-No Boys and Natural Vibrations. Call 566-0644 ...
SPEAKING OF Natural Vibes, the guys are back home after playing shows in California, Oregon and Washington state. After tomorrow night's show at Puck's Alley, the band moves on to play this year's "Jammin' Hawaiians" concert Saturday night at the Waikiki Shell.
Ten Feet will also play both Puck's Alley and the Shell this weekend; also joining those bands on stage are Aloha, Aziel, Madam Brown, Fiji, Darrell Labrado, Ekolu, Ho'onu'a, Native Blend, Sean Na'aua'o and Pati.
If you haven't picked up a ticket for this one, get down to the Blaisdell Arena box office or any Ticketmaster location for a shot at one of the limited $10 lawn seats that are still available. Prices will go up after the first 1,000 are sold, so get yours now. Call 526-4400 to order by phone ...
A FEW MONTHS ago, I wrote a story about Cox Radio imaging director James Coles and his quest to start a non-profit organization called Musical Youth of Hawaii. It's Coles' goal to teach high school students on Oahu the skills necessary to work as a club or radio DJ, and he takes the first step this weekend, when MYH opens its first clubhouse on the grounds of Washington Intermediate School.
Keiki between the ages of 13 and 17 are invited to sign up from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii's Spalding Clubhouse. A limited number of spaces are available for the program's first session, which starts April 29. Local radio jocks Hawaiian Ryan and Tanisha from 104.3 XME, Ric Havoc and Urusai from 102.7 Da Bomb and Tati and Marko from I-94 will also be on hand Saturday afternoon to hang out and answer questions. Call 479-3008 for complete details ...
