Hawaiian Airlines has started its own vacation-package business, following the examples set by such industry leaders as United Airlines and American Airlines.
Visitors to the airline's Web site, www.HawaiianAir.com, who click "Vacation Packages" can choose a variety of destinations on the mainland or in Hawaii and move on to book specific flights, hotel accommodations and rental cars. The destinations are those served by Hawaiian and include Las Vegas, Reno/Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles, Anaheim/Disneyland, San Francisco, Palm Springs, San Diego and Phoenix.
Examples offered so far include a two-night air/hotel package from Honolulu to Las Vegas starting at $439 per person and a similar deal for Disneyland for $391. Hawaiian said it has negotiated special rates for 33 hotels in Las Vegas, 10 around Disneyland and 11 hotels in San Francisco.
The airline said that by the end of this month it will be able to offer tickets to specific add-ons, such as Las Vegas shows. Hawaiian said it is also offering cruise vacations through an organization called World's Leading Cruise Lines. The cruises are available through www. HawaiianAirCruises.com.
While its main drive with the new packaging is for online sales, Hawaiian said the same reservations can be made by telephone, at (866) 298-4653 for Hawaiian Vacations and at (800) 820-5318 for the cruises. Various airline mileage benefits apply to the programs.
