Mothers in prison reunite with kids

Serena Ahuna made a picture frame yesterday which she placed in front of the face of her 6-month-old daughter, Shea. Serena is serving time at the Women's Community Correctional Center. Her daughter was born while she was serving time in prison, but she said she is supposed to get out in July. More than 100 children were reunited with their mothers in prison for an afternoon of family activities that included an Easter egg hunt, picture taking and other events.




Windward Mall hosts an egg hunt

Windward Mall held its Crayola Hoppy Easter Celebration yesterday. Taylor Simpkins, 4, and her sister, Deja, 7, gave their mom, Gretchen, a hug. They had their faces painted and wore Easter bunny ears that they got there.

BUCKING CUB SCOUT

Mitchell Fong, a Cub Scout in Troop 229 in Kaneohe, was tossed off a barrel bull set up by the Pearl City Boy Scout Troop 180 yesterday at the Boy Scout Makahiki at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Troops from all over descended upon the Blaisdell, where they set up games and exhibits showcasing the skills they learn as Boy Scouts.




SPAM ONSLAUGHT

Seli Savaiinaea pushed in a pallet of Spam collected for the Hawaii Foodbank at Restaurant Row yesterday that will be added to the ever-growing wall. So far, the wall has about 1,400 cans, and another 1,100 cans will be added. The world-record wall is in the Spam Museum in Austin, Minn., and contains 3,390 cans. The collection was part of the food bank's drive held yesterday at several locations throughout the state.
