Drunk pilot lost his
license and doesnt work
for Delta anymore
Question: Whatever happened to the pilot for Delta Air Lines whose flight from Maui to Los Angeles on April 23 last year was canceled because he was allegedly drunk?
Answer: His pilot's license was revoked following an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, said Tweet Coleman, the FAA's Pacific area representative.
The revocation means, at a minimum, the pilot is unable to fly for at least a year, Coleman said.
Delta Air Lines spokesman Anthony Black declined to identify the pilot but said he is no longer employed by Delta. Citing personnel confidentiality laws, Black declined to say whether the pilot's departure was related to the April 23 incident.
Flight 292 from Maui to Los Angeles was canceled because of "crew unavailability," Delta announced when passengers were stranded on Maui.
The airline paid for the overnight hotel stay of passengers on Maui and brought pilots from the mainland to continue service.
FAA rules prohibit crew members from operating civil aircraft if they have had a drink within eight hours before the flight or have a blood alcohol level of 0.04 percent, which is half of the 0.08-percent limit for motorists.
