Hawaiian shares crash

In a wild week for Hawaii's business world, CB Bancshares Inc. and Hawaiian Holdings Inc. made extreme moves in opposite directions to highlight activity in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

CB Bancshares, parent of City Bank, jumped 46.2 percent to an all-time high of $66.86 after receiving an unsolicited $285 million merger offer from rival CPB Inc., the parent of Central Pacific Bank. CPB lost 5.9 percent in the holiday-shortened week to $24.13.

Hawaiian Holdings, parent of Hawaiian Airlines, dropped 50 percent to 75 cents after a three-week trading delay due to its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
