Meet academy boss
Newly appointed Honolulu Academy of Arts Director Stephen Little, an authority on Chinese and Japanese art, will lead a tour through the "East Meets West" exhibition at 5 p.m. April 30.Little, who's worked at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Cleveland Museum of Art and Art Institute of Chicago, will present an illustrated talk about art's ability to convey understanding and appreciation of different cultures. A reception will follow the lecture.
Admission is $20, and Friday is the deadline to register. For information call 944-7111.
Kauai hosts actors
The Actor's Studio of Kauai is producing a one-day workshop, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 10, at the Aloha Hotel in Wailua.Casting director Cathy Henderson, from the Hollywood office of Henderson/Zuckerman Casting, will be the featured speaker. Henderson is casting a surf film to be shot in Hawaii.
Cost of the workshop is $150, and final payment is due by April 30.

Lizard Loft seeks acts
Lizard Loft is looking for performing artists to fill three slots in the fall season. Each slot comprises five performances over two weekends at the ARTS at Marks Garage.Preference will be given to original local works, but new interpretations of existing works will be considered.
