HIP-HOP VETERANS Naughty by Nature return to the islands after a visit in December for the "Pipeline Masters Kickoff Party" at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. Treach and Vinny will be on the Big Isle Thursday night this time, headlining the "2003 Urban Musicfest" at Hilo's Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Local acts scheduled to perform at the Musicfest include Sudden Rush, Times 5 and the Roots Players. Tickets are $30 and are available at CD Wizard, Byrd's Audio and Melekai Music. Doors open at 6 p.m. ...
ON SATURDAY, Maui is the island of choice when the "Maui No Ka Oi Ohana Bash" gets under way at Kahului's War Memorial Complex. Bruddah Sam and Lina Girl from Local Kine Grindz will join Overdrive Live's Davey D in hosting the concert, which starts at noon and goes until 10 p.m.
If you've been to a concert featuring island music at the Waikiki Shell, then you know what to expect Saturday on Maui. Making the trip from Oahu to perform are Ale'a, Aziel, B.E.T., Keahiwai, Koa'uka, Native Blend, the Next Generation, Pati and Three Plus.
