a festival showcasing cultural diversity

The East-West Center Participants Association hosted "A Thousand Cultures, One Community -- A Celebration of Diversity" yesterday at the center in Manoa. Tish Kuruppu applied a henna design to the hands of Latifah Allaudin. This technique of adornment is usually reserved for high ceremonies like weddings and is practiced in regions of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
