BYUH tennis teams prep
for PacWest tournament


BILLINGS, Mont. >> The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's and women's tennis teams cruised to victory yesterday in final tune-ups for their conference tournaments.

The men and women, defending national champions, both routed Montana State-Billings 9-0.

They begin defense of their Pacific West Conference titles here today as No. 1 seeds.

The men's and women's draws are exactly the same, with BYUH facing No. 6 seed Western New Mexico, third-seeded Hawaii-Hilo playing host Billings and No. 2 seed Hawaii Pacific meeting No. 5 Chaminade.

Yesterday, Judy Weng won her singles match 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Adrienn Hegedus for an 8-0 doubles victory.

Jong-Woong Yoon led the men with a 6-3, 6-0 singles win.

Golf tournament deadline extended

The registration deadline for the Na Koa, Ed Wong Memorial Golf Tournament on April 22 has been extended.

There is room for several more teams, although individuals can sign up and then will be assigned to a team.

The format for the tournament at Hawaii Prince Golf Club is a modified three-person scramble.

The entry fee for a team is $525 or $175 for an individual.
