KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON: Kapena and KDE Records celebrated the recent release of the band's big "Won't Stop Now" album at Gordon Biersch. The guests of honor -- Timo Tatofi, left, Kapena De Lima, Kelly De Lima, Kainoa DeLo and Eddie Teo -- were joined by percussionist Salaam Tilman on stage. Timo's brother, Tiva, a retired founding member, applauded from the audience.
JUST CHILLIN': Lionel "Lionel L" Wright relaxed backstage with Jennifer Lehua Barber at the Hawaii Music Awards at Kapono's. Barber's album, "Fly Away," won later that night in the R&B category (Barber and Wright worked together several years ago when she sang with his rap group, Club Rox Rock).
NEXT STOP, THE HOKUS!: Kaitlyn Metcalf, left, and Lyanna Tumaneng, right, congratulated Hawaii Music Award winners Chris Jay, Lei Melket, Mailani Makanai and Laiku Soares. Jordan Segundo's rendition of "Unchained Melody" was one of the highlights of the evening. A short set by Simplisity and Five By 5 also enlivened the long and generally slow-moving awards show.
