REGINA, Saskatchewan >> It's a sobering reminder of the bad things that can happen when you drink and drive.
The University of Saskatchewan Students' Union's latest campaign on driving responsibly features posters of British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell, his smiling mug shots and the caption: Don't Pull a Gordon. Drive Safe.
The premier was picked up by Maui police for drinking and driving during a Hawaii vacation earlier this year.
Since his arrest, his photos have wound up in some pretty strange places, including on T-shirts, aprons, coffee mugs and even a thong.
Students' Union Vice President Blair McDaid said it was seeing Campbell's mug on the front page of the Globe and Mail that inspired the group to do the poster.
"It was just too darn easy," McDaid said yesterday.
"He's the premier of a province and he gets picked up for drinking and driving. He wasn't being responsible, and I think that is a fair statement."
The posters, which have been up on the Saskatoon campus for about a week, have been popular with students.
A spokesman from Campbell's office said the premier did not plan to comment on the poster.
