The William S. Richardson School of Law is listed in the top 100 law schools in the country in this year's U.S. News and World Report ranking of America's best graduate schools to be released next week.
Graduate programs in international business at the College of Business Administration were ranked in the top 25 in the country, listed as 21st, just ahead of the University of Washington and just behind Michigan State University.
The UH law school is ranked 86th among the 177 U.S. schools surveyed, just ahead of Marquette, Georgia State and Santa Clara, and just after such schools as the universities of Oregon, South Carolina and Miami.
The school also places well in the magazine's new law school diversity index, with accompanying notes indicating that the student body at the law school is 62 percent Asian American.
"Diversity is a key element of a sound legal education program," Dean Lawrence Foster added. "We are proud of the strong diversity of our law school."
This year's rankings are based on surveys conducted in fall 2002. They measure selectivity in admissions, placement success after graduation, faculty resources and a quality assessment by the dean and faculty members of each school surveyed.
"Our ranking reflects the dedication and expertise of our faculty, who are recognized throughout the world for their knowledge of Asia-Pacific business," said Business College Dean David McClain.
