Janelle Keese Dingle is hoping the thief or thieves who stole her wedding pictures take pity on her.
The 21-year-old Massachusetts resident flew to Oahu last week to marry her fiance before he is deployed with his Kaneohe Marine Infantry unit to the Persian Gulf.
The couple had a lovely oceanside, sunset wedding at the foot of Diamond Head Friday, she said.
Her husband, Patrick, 20, who is scheduled to leave for the Persian Gulf Thursday, took a four-day leave for the wedding and the honeymoon.
The newlyweds went on a sight-seeing trip yesterday in a red Ford Mustang convertible -- with their valuables, which included two boxes of wedding pictures.
"It was wonderful. It was nice out. We went to Pearl Harbor sight seeing. I'd been having a great time," the new bride said this morning.
One of their stops was the Pali Lookout, and that's where the newlyweds lost their most treasured possession about 5:30 p.m., she said.
With just three shots left in their camera, the couple planned to use up the roll of film and leave. Dingle said they locked their rental car (with a secured top) and set the car alarm before wandering out for picture-taking.
The Dingles returned to the car about 10 minutes later and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. But when they returned to their Waikiki hotel, they discovered that their valuables were missing.
Someone had broken into the car and taken their camera bag, their identification papers, credit cards, travelers' checks, cash -- and the pictures and the negatives.
The bride sent out a plea this morning, asking for the return of the pictures and negatives with no questions asked.
"I don't care about the credit cards. The pictures are irreplaceable," Dingle said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Waikiki police station, 529-3801.
