Wide receiver/defensive back Darrick Branch is out with a hamstring injury, and the Hawaiian Islanders trimmed their active roster to the maximum 21 for their arenafootball2 opener Sunday.

Kickoff against the Green Bay Blizzard at Blaisdell Arena is 6 p.m.

On Monday, the Islanders reassigned six players to the league pool: tight end/defensive lineman Aaron Bentley, wide receiver/defensive back Mike Funaro, fullback/linebacker Eddie Kealoha, defensive specialist Desmond Maul, lineman William Paulding and wide receiver/defensive back Leroy Shelton.

The Islanders also reactivated lineman Mose Tula. He replaces Branch, who was placed on short injured reserve.

Branch, who has a tender hamstring, joins lineman Tiki Sagopolutele on the short IR. They must sit out at least two games.

BYUH's Foyle earns All-American honors

Brigham Young-Hawaii senior Alexus Foyle was named to the Daktronics NCAA II All-America second team yesterday.

Foyle, from St. Vincent, was second in Division II in scoring, at 26.7 points a game. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds.

The forward was the PacWest Player of the Year.

"I would have rather won the tournament and played on the mainland, but being an All-American again is nice," Foyle said. "It is good for my resume and good for Hawaii and the school."
